Small Steps starts like a meditative Chinese song, with small melodic sequences interlocking until building a background ostinato. On these combined patterns a harmonic suite appears with a mouth organ-like sound. Then develops a cello melody sang along later with a distorted guitar while the cellos take a counterpoint, until the whole fade out to oblivion.
